Church Women United was a founding member of the New Mexico Conference of Churches. My job is to coordinate and share information between these two groups. I enjoy participating in the work of both groups.

My interest in being involved ecumenically was piqued for me many years ago when I noticed that one of the only times folks in my small Nebraska farm community gathered across denominational lines was for World Day of Prayer. It wasn’t until much later when, as a young pastor’s wife, I was invited to participate in Church Women United, the group which at that time sponsored the WDP service. That led to my continuing involvement in CWU in many leadership roles in the three places we have lived: California, Utah and now New Mexico, as well as in the national unit of CWU. My life has been and continues to be blessed by the many incredible experiences I have had working alongside so many talented and committed Christian women throughout the over forty-five years of my journey in CWU. I welcome anyone wanting an awesome adventure in faith to join me on the journey.

I serve because CWU came into my life in 1963 when I was asked to serve on the Board of the Los Alamos Unit of CWU. I believed in the ecumenical approach to women’s worship, relationships and work in the world. I became acquainted with women in approximately 40 Units throughout the State of New Mexico. I learned a great deal about the missions CWU supported, the contributions of women in many denominations, and the struggles for equality and freedom among women throughout the world. It all enriched my life and gave me new visions of what can be. CWU also fulfilled a purpose for my life and I’m grateful for it.
