Friday, September 9, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church

5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE

(North of Montgomery Park)

“IT’S UP TO YOU IN 2022”

Theme: “A Call to Act” ... based on 1 John 3:13 (NIV)

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech,

but with actions and in truth.”

Human Rights are rights that are believed to belong justifiably to every person in the world from life until death, regardless of where you are from, what you believe, or how you choose to live your life. The ultimate idea of a Human Rights Day Celebration is to educate and embrace the principles of human equality and dignity and the commitment to respect and protect the rights of all people.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, following WWII. CWU was one of the first non-government organizations (NGO) recognized by the UN. CWU celebrates the day in September.

Our speaker will be Kristen Bowre, Director of Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON), a United Methodist Immigration Ministry for West Texas and Southern New Mexico. JFON provides legal services through a partnership with the El Paso Immigration Collaborative (EPIC).

We also honor individuals or groups who have been working in the field of human rights locally and statewide for many years by giving a Human Rights Award.
