Reflections on 2021

REFLECTIONS ON 2021 by Mildred Langston

Surviving surprising, even startling, sums-up last year,

Braving octogenarian ails and dodging covid fears,

Mourning loss of mentors and simple ways of school girl days

Worrying our country’s future, wondering my role to play?

.....

Yet God granted familiar gifts and graces new.

Nurturing, watering plants in turn nurtured me,

Sunshine’s warmth, sunsets’ spectacular skies

Mountain views on solo walks or with others

Sharing through Zoom with friends old & new.

Gingerly chancing celebrations in person.

Opening up to sacred spirits from all sides

Getting & giving forgiveness to friends & kin

Salvation met us and we are still here.
